How to Build a Reader Friendly Blog

By Patsy Powell

So many topics have been written about online, ad nauseum; so you can be very different by finding alternate sources of accurate information for your audience. But terrific content may not be enough depending on other factors on your blog. The finer points about blogging so you can expand your reading audience is what this article is all about.

If your goal is to have a profitable blog, then you will need to research and implement a solid program for monetization. Contextual ads that are served up by any number of networks is perhaps what most content sites use for generating revenue. While all of this is cool, it's definitely not a good idea to make your blog look highly commercial by adding too many advertisements to it. You want to create a readable content blog, and too many ads will be distracting to the reader. It is well known that a heavy content blog will be more profitable with just a couple of well-placed ads. Your readers should get a feeling that they are on your blog, and not some commercial website that doesn't care about them. Always keep a check on the number of ads that you're running on your blog and ensure that you keep your ads toned down.

There is little to no reason for any content to have mistakes in it like grammar errors, and enough of them will turn people off of your blog. These are the technical items that will work either for or against you. It seems to be a truism that bad writing that is filled with mistakes will make people click away faster than you can blink. Writing can always be improved if you let it incubate a little bit, and then go back to it for polishing up. This will allow your brain to focus on the content as a random reader, and you'll find many more mistakes that you wouldn't have made earlier. Besides this, consider asking your friends to proof read the content for you if they can, so that you can get a second opinion on it.

A link navigation structure that lacks organization can actually cause people to leave your site out of aggravation. Logically organized and named categories and page links can go far to make your blog appear easy to use as well as actually be easy to use. So be sure to use your keywords for category titles because that helps to make the layout of information very clear. If you look around you'll find that a good number of blogs tend to skip this step, which makes it cumbersome to find the topic you want. The only way to really do this well is solid keyword research and planning out your categories.

This says it all. Simple to apply tips that go a long way in making your blog more reader friendly and attractive.
